A training workshop on lower limb reconstruction and necrotising fasciitis reconstruction will be held in association with the NZAPS ASM. This is designed with special interest to New Zealand and Australian trainees in both plastic and orthopaedic surgery.
Presenting at the workshop will be Aidan Fitzgerald and Scott Levin, keynote speakers for the NZAPS ASM, with local experts from Christchurch Hospital. For more information on the speakers refer to the ASM website.

The SET Induction Conference is mandatory for trainees in their first year of clinical training. The conference focuses on foundational skills such as microsurgery and includes exposure to hand surgery and CMF surgery techniques.
We are pleased to invite the 2024 intake of trainees to the 2024 SET Induction Conference, to be held 6-9 February in Brisbane. Attendance is mandatory for 1st Year SET trainees.
The program commences with a cadaveric dissection workshop focusing on exposures in hand, wrist and craniomaxillofacial surgery. Microsurgical principles and practice are covered over the first two days. Day 3 features lecturers covering a range of topics and a Sawbone workshop covering fixation principles in the hand and craniomaxillofacial skeletons. The final day equips trainees with a Research Toolkit to negotiate academic tasks throughout training.
The program will commence at 7:30am on Tuesday 6th February and conclude at 4pm on Friday 9th February. There will be a welcome reception on Tuesday evening and a conference dinner on Thursday evening. Busses will depart the Stamford Plaza Brisbane daily for transportation to the various training venues. More details to follow in the coming months.

The New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons is holding the Annual Scientific Meeting at the Christchurch Convention Centre, Te Pāe, in Ōtautahi Christchurch on 30-31 August 2024. This annual conference is our opportunity to join together for education, collaboration and to reconnect and socialize with each other . The key note speakers are Professor Scott Levin, plastic and orthopaedic surgeon from Philadelphia, Dr Aidan Fitzgerald from Sheffield, United Kingdom and Associate Professor Sydney Ch’ng from Australia. Professor Levin will talk on upper and lower limb reconstruction topics. He has extensive expertise in microsurgical reconstruction and transplantation. Dr Fitzgerald will talk on facial palsy reconstruction, necrotizing fasciitis and other topics. Associate Professor Ch’ng, who is an ASPS councillor, will bring her expertise with respect to melanoma management, and immunotherapy for cutaneous malignancy and head and neck malignancy .
Dr Fitzergerald and Professor Levin will also participate in discussions about innovation, surgical leadership, changes in ways we work over the generations, and surgical education.

The Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society (ANZHNCS) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2022 is to be held on Friday 26 – Sunday 28 August 2022 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The theme of this years meeting is “Evolving Paradigms in Head and Neck Cancer: Escalation, De-escalation and Everything in Between”.

The biennial Craniomaxillofacial surgery course (CMF) will cover the entire craniomaxillofacial curriculum that is required learning for the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training program fellowship exams. Topics covered include craniofacial growth and development, cleft lip and palate, odontogentic tumours, orthognathics, cephalometry, trauma, paediatric cranial surgery and many other topics.
