The primary purpose of the Gillies Travelling Fund is to “help improve and advance the field of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in New Zealand” through education and research.

The Gillies Travelling Fund was originally established in 1982 as a permanent memorial to New Zealand Plastic Surgeon Sir Harold Gillies and to support New Zealand Plastic Surgery Fellows travel overseas to gain additional skills and experience.

The Gillies Travelling Fund (GTF) is a Charitable Trust with the primary purpose of  “helping to improve and advance the field of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in New Zealand” through education and research. The Trust will provide monetary grants to successful applicants for this the purpose. Eligible applicants for  grants will be advanced New Zealand PRS SET trainees or PRS surgeons recently completed training.

The Trust will consider applications for the following educational activities: overseas fellowship; attendance at  an international meeting/ course; research project; costs related to a higher degree; costs related to publication of works or funding a visiting expert to support trainee activities.

Donations to the fund are welcome and a donation form is linked to this page. As the Gillies Travelling Fund Trust is registered with the New Zealand Charities Commission as a Registered Trust, donations are eligible for a 33% tax rebate.
