Entry into the SET training program in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery is highly competitive. Eligibility criteria are published annually on The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) website at Selection Requirements. NZ Specialty specific selection regulations can be found on College website at NZ PRS Selection
The selection process explores the abilities, experience, standard of work performance and personal qualities of applicants that would enable them to perform all the required duties of a SET trainee, achieve all of the objectives of the SET programme, and become a skilled and highly competent Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
A range of professional and capability factors are considered in PRS applicants.
From 2016 it is mandatory for all applicants to SET PRS to have passed the Generic Surgical Sciences Examination.
SET applicants in 2022 (for the 2023 training year) will be required to have successfully completed the Clinical Examination Clinical Examination
